Feb. 8 Luncheon: Dan Gaydou, MLive Publisher
The Gazette’s Digital Evolution…
Year #1 Done, What’s Next?
One year ago, MLive Media Group and Advance Central Services Michigan assumed operations of Booth Newspapers and MLive.com in a move to gain a more competitive business model and accommodate the trend towards digital news delivery. Come and see how the transition is working – and discuss how it is affecting local and national news coverage.
President Dan Gaydou will update InterCom members on his company’s progress, the highlights and lowlights. of MLive’s first year and the success of its MLive.com. He will also update us on several new interactive media tools: one helps reporters present their stories more clearly with infographics; others are changing the way advertising is delivered.
Among the trends occurring in digital journalism are:
- an increased use of video on its news websites
- the use of geolocation and geofencing for mobile advertising
- the diversification of digital revenue streams from traditional display advertising
- the use of open-sourced tools in data journalism.
This timely discussion promises to draw a large crowd, so consider arriving early to get a good seat! Doors open at 11:30 for networking.
